Summary The book Charlie goes camping is about a grizzly bear that is brave. Charlie goes camping with his classmates and his teacher. His classmates are mice, a rabbit, a mole, a fox cub and his teacher a hen. Charlie is the biggest animal out of the bunch so he gets stuck carrying all of there stuff. On there way to the campsite they run into a couple of problems in which Charlie the big brave, hairy, scary grizzly bear solves. They finally arrive to where they will setup there tepee and they all put it up together. They then go and look for dinner which consists of berries, and when they arrive back to there surprise the tepee is knocked down. They are greeted by two naughty wolf cubs that threaten to bring their big bad wolf dad. As the teacher Mrs. Cluck is arguing along comes Charlie to save the day. The cubs immediately ran away screaming and yelling. They then sing songs and and have a great dinner Charlies classmates and teacher are so greatful to have him there.

Summary The story kites is about a painter who makes pictures for people to give to their gods at the temple. One day a lady asks him to make him a kite instead of a painnting. She wants it for her son can be strong and noble, she wants to fly it up to the skies so the gods can see it. People started to like the idea better than a painting so they all started requesting there kites. Many people asked for different kites that had different meanings to them. They would ask for animals such as the tiger that meant courage, or the lion that stands for power. They would fly these kites up to their gods wishing for their children, mother, father, husband or wife or for themselves. All of the kites flying resulted in an annual kite day that they named The Double Ninth Festival which is held every ninth of September. People compete flying their kites. The winner gets a cow and a ride through the cheering crowd. Second place recieves a pig and third a sheep.

Summary The Story Srega Nona's Garden is about an older woman that has a garden. Strega Nona decides to plant her garden with the help of her two younger children. Big Al and Bambolona help her plant many different kinds of vegetables such as pumpkin, squash, beans, tomatoes, and many other veggies. As they were planting their garden Bombolona was bossing Big Al around and he did not like that. The night that they planted the seeds in the ground Strega Nona sang a song and did a little chant to the moon so that her garden could grow nice and her secret ingredient was to blow three kisses to the moon. Big Al happened to see her do this so he planted some seeds of his own in another spot so that he could show Bambolona he could do something right. He chanted he sang and he blew three extra kisses to the moon. Time passed and the crops were growing very big. Big Al noticed that his garden was growing a little more than Strega Nona's garden. They finally picked the crops and they filled the kitchen and the root cellar with all of the vegetables. Big Al had not picked his crops yet and he did not know what to do with them. He had so many crops and he did not want Strega Nona or Bambolona to see the mess that he had in his garden. He decidede that every night he would leave his crops infront of Strega Nona's front door. Every morning that Strega Nona awoke she would find crops on her front door her kitchen was full of vegetables and so was her cellar she didn't know what to do and wondered who could have left these here. She then went to the village and asked the nuns if they were leaving the crops on her front door. They answered and told her no that their crops were not very good this year in fact none of the villagers gardens were good. That was when Strega Nona had an idea of having a Harvest Feast. She invited the villagers over to her house for a Feast she invited the nuns and the mayor amongst other villagers. The people were very happy that Strega Nona had invited them over they left with crops and left Strega Nona with just enough for her.
